Rolex Submariner

Rolex Submariner which underwent at least 130 tests of dives up to depths of at least 60 meters over a period of half a year before it was perfected and released to consumers.'

Originally made with a red luminous triangle at the midnight position, researchers instead change the colour to white, as red was detected to be the first colour to be absorbed underwater and lost easily. With a depth rating of 300m, it is definitely practical for the avid diver, where he can have access to accurate time in most situations. In 1979, the plexiglas crystal was swapped with the durable and scratch resistant synthetic sapphire crystal widely used today. An interesting point to note would be that Rolex released the 50-year commemorative model with a special green bezel and an enhanced dial in 2003.

Though seeming insignificant, the enhancements made in the anniversary model's dial should be looked into seriously as Rolex has put in an incredible amount of effort, investment and research into the designs of their watches, one good reason why there are many replicates and counterfeits of its watches. Rolex has included the maxi-dial in the anniversary edition of the Submariner, meaning that its hour markers are larger, with the widening of its minute hand, making it more obvious in the dark as more luminescent paint is used. Due to the success of the maxi dial innovation, it use would likely to be seen in other upcoming models created by Rolex.

Lightweight Wrist Watch with GPS

Think of it, a lightweight wrist watch with GPS that you can wear where ever you go or whatever you are doing such as; Mountain Biking, River Rafting, Snow Mobiling or Sailing. Did you know you can buy one of these GPS wristwatches for under $500, it is true? Even the most advanced ones are under $1500 and they work absolutely fabulously. You will not believe the features or the accuracy.

There are several manufacturers and you can even buy them online used well, if you shop around a bit. One thing I would recommend is to get one that is waterproof, because you never know what you might be using it for. There are many that are used by hikers, mountain bikers and folks that do back-packing or mountain climbing. These units are not usually water proofed, so you need to also consider that.

Another thing that is very important is to check on the battery life. Some of these units only last for 12 hours without recharging, but if you're going to be in the mountains for a number of days then you need to either bring extra battery packs or find one that has a battery life of 4 to 5 days. There are not that many that are like this, and the ones that are run well for 4-5 days are over $1000.
